Using Creativity With Your Team

Encouraging creativity in the workplace creates an environment that is conducive to growth, innovation, and collaboration. When we embrace creativity, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and opportunities. It allows us to adapt to changing circumstances, solve complex problems, and come up with fresh and engaging ideas. In this blog post, I'll share with you some effective ways we use creativity at 787 coffee with our teams.

Showcase the benefits:

Highlight the advantages of incorporating creativity into the shop & our meetings. Explain how it can lead to increased innovation, problem-solving, and overall productivity. Share success stories or case studies from other companies that have effectively implemented creative strategies.

Provide examples:

Offer specific examples of how creativity can be applied in your organization. Identify areas where creative thinking could make a difference, such as product development, marketing campaigns, process improvements, or customer experience. Show how creative approaches can lead to better outcomes in these areas.

Offer training and resources:

Suggest providing training sessions or workshops on creativity and brainstorming techniques. Bring in experts or facilitate internal knowledge-sharing sessions to help leaders understand the value of creative thinking and provide them with practical tools to enhance their own and their team's creativity.

Foster a supportive environment:

Create a culture that values and encourages creativity. Encourage open communication, idea sharing, and collaboration. Recognize and reward innovative thinking and celebrate creative successes. Leaders are more likely to embrace creativity if they see it being valued and supported by the organization.

Start small:

Encourage leaders to start with small, low-risk experiments that allow for creative thinking. This could involve encouraging new ideas during team meetings, implementing pilot projects, or creating cross-functional teams to tackle specific challenges. By starting small, leaders can gain confidence in the value of creativity and gradually expand its application within the organization.

Lead by example:

As part of the team, demonstrate your own creative thinking abilities and share your insights with your leaders/ baristas. Be proactive in offering creative solutions to problems and showcase the positive outcomes. When leaders/ baristas see the benefits firsthand, they are more likely to embrace and promote creativity themselves.
